Position and role of the enterprise.

The enterprise has a special important position in an economy. It is the main sector making up Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In recent years, the enterprise has developed rapidly to partly contribute to the liberation and development of productive force, mobilize and bring into the internal force in socio-economic development, considerably had a part in restoring and growing of the economy, increasing of export value, contribution to state budget and effectively resolving the social issue as: job creation, and poverty reduction, etc...

In 1995, enterprise sector only created 103.7 thousand billion VND accounting for 45.3% GDP (the remain sectors included the administrative and vocational units and the private business households accounting for 54.7%) but in 2001, this sector made up 255.7 thousand billion VND, accounting for 53.2% of GDP, 2.5 times as compared to the year 1995. Of which state enterprise accounts for 30.6% of GDP, non-state enterprise accounts for 8.8% and foreign invested enterprise accounts for 13.8%. The detail data shown in the table below.

Enterprises are an important factor affecting the transfer of macro structure of the national economy as: multi-components economic structure, economic-classification structure and economic structure by region and locality.

The development of enterprise especially the quick increase of industrial enterprises is a factor ensuring the implementation of modernization and industrialization of the country's development objectives, enhancing economic effect, stabilizing the economy and strengthening the competitive capacity to the economy in the process of international integration.
